# App 08 Case Study — Production AI Deployment & Operations Studio
## Problem
Deploying generative AI applications into production environments carries distinct operational risks compared to standard web microservices: non-deterministic output schemas, sudden token consumption spikes, model degradation over time, latency degradation under traffic, and lack of automated fallback mechanisms.
## Solution
AI Ops & Deployment Studio is an enterprise operational control plane designed to manage generative AI deployments with rigor and resilience. It provides:
- **Canary & Blue/Green Traffic Routing:** Weighted traffic distribution (e.g. 90% Blue baseline vs 10% Green candidate), atomic zero-downtime Blue/Green switching, and shadow mirroring for non-blocking evaluation.
- **Real-Time SLO & Error Budget Tracking:** Continuous percentile distribution analysis (P50, P90, P95, P99), Time-to-First-Token (TTFT) metrics, and automated Error Budget depletion tracking.
- **Circuit Breakers & Automated Rollback:** Automated circuit opening upon successive upstream inference failures or error budget exhaustion, instantly redirecting 100% of production traffic to the healthy baseline.
- **Chaos Engineering & Resilience Auditing:** Built-in fault injection suites to test application behavior against artificial latency, Azure OpenAI 429 quota exhaustion, OWASP LLM01 prompt injection attempts, and schema non-compliance.
- **Dual Operating Modes:** Operates with online Azure OpenAI (`gpt-4o`, `gpt-4o-mini`) or a 100% deterministic offline simulation engine for CI/CD pipelines and demos.
## Architecture Decisions
- **Deterministic Routing Engine:** In-memory weighted routing algorithm ensuring exact traffic ratios without external proxies.
- **Multi-Model Inference Adapter:** Abstracted inference client supporting Azure OpenAI and OpenAI, calculating precise prompt and completion token costs per invocation.
- **Fail-Safe Health Probes:** Automated health checks monitoring availability, latency budgets, and active circuit state.
- **Single Deployable Unit:** Packaged as an optimized Next.js 15 application running standalone in Docker.
## Security & Governance Controls
- Server-enforced rate limits and concurrency semaphores per client IP.
- Zero client-side credentials: all Azure and OpenAI keys remain securely enclosed within backend environment boundaries.
- OWASP Top 10 for LLMs security guardrails with prompt injection detection.
- Deterministic synthetic evaluation mode enabling test execution with zero token expenditure.
## What This Solution Demonstrates
This solution demonstrates enterprise-grade AIOps governance: moving AI from fragile prototypes to mission-critical infrastructure with automated resilience, continuous telemetry, cost controls, and production safety nets.
